wow...blogging is more tedious than i ever thought it was going to be. it's been several months since i've posted and there has been so much that has happend. and no, i won't take the time to relive all those wild, crazy and stressful times. i'd rather focus on what's to come and changes that i need to make in my life. i can't believe 2006 has come and gone and in many ways i'm sad that it's gone to fast but something tells me that 2007 will be a blessing. i'm looking to turning over a new leaf in all aspects of my life. hmmm, impossible? no, but in all seriousness i really need to settle some issues that continue to cause me stress... so my first priority is to find a new job!

interviews...

so this morning i conducted interviews for a secretary position that we are hiring for...quite comical.. i don't understand where in the hell people get off trying to fool employers... for example, being "bi-lingual" doesn't mean you've taken one semester of spanish and can wow everyone with your "donde esta el baño?" give me a freakin' break! i've heard that so many times that i automatically deduct points on the interview...it takes a lot more than a class, try it out on the real world...oh another thing is people claiming to know computer programs...we asked "so if we wanted you to do a flyer would you choose publisher or power point?" her answer: power point. when we ask if they are in graduate school, alot say "yes, now i'm going to college for my bachelors degree." um...ok....i think we're scraping the bottom of the barrel with these applicants.

but the one interview that got me was with this young girl..might barely be 21..give or take a year...but i asked her what her definition of "chain of command" is and with my boss sitting there she had the audacity to say "um, well basically you have the top dog and then the peions..." WTF!?! wanna repeat that biotch? the crazy thing is that this chic didn't realize that her dumb ass just called me a peion! wow... now, ok, ok, i know that's how we all may feel from day to day...but hey we don't say that shit. and why would you say something like that to people who have the power to hire you? bad choice girly girl...so in my mind i'm thinking "what did the five fingers say to the face?" LOL...

on a lighter note...my jellybean had a very important interview today...and from his perspective it went great! truth be told, i knew he would do awesome because he only focused on it the whole weekend...good job baby...i'm proud of you and can't wait to see the fruits of that hard work and NEW job!

thank God it's friday...because i am seriously about to throw myself out the window at work. i just can't seem to get anything done. i hate cubicles...i hate co-workers...i hate the boss!

this weekend i plan on working on saturday morning (suprise, suprise)...and then doing a whole lotta nothing! sleep in, stay in my pajamas, and veg out watching movies.

well that's all for today because i'm tired...

random stuff..

i haven't had the opportunity to update recently because it's been really busy at work and i have soooo much to do. like the title of the blog says "random stuff" there are several topics that are running through my mind.

first of all, my sister starts her college career today at the university of kansas. i am so incredibly excited for her. i talked to her last night and she is settled into her dorm, getting along with her roommate, and is experiencing first hand all the idiosyncrasies of the financial aid/scholarship process. in any case, she is already way ahead than i ever was back when i was in school. i wish her the best, but i know she'll do great.

secondly, i absolutely love the look of my blog. major kudos to kj for doing such a wonderful job. so now i feel obligated more than ever to keep my blog updated. so thanks for also being the motivation that i need to post. but the funny thing is that i haven't seen this as a chore, only because i talk so much that i could write about anything. sure, my opinion may not be worthwhile to some, but hey, it's therapeutic for me.

lastly, yesterday i spent most of my day in a community north of las cruces called hatch...which is more popularly known as "hatch-chile capital of the world"...anyway this community of about 1,600 people fell victim to severe thunderstorms and eventually flooding, approximately 300 homes and businesses were damaged. we worked the majority of the day at the high school which was set up as a shelter for families and for the red cross and national guard. it was amazing to see how people from the surrounding unaffected communities were so willing to give either monetary, clothing, or food donations. it was sad to see the families that had no place else to go and who had lost a lot to the flooding. i can't even imagine the inconveniences that a tragedy like this would cause...so today i am counting my blessings and keeping those in mind and prayer who need blessings.

meeting..

ok, first of all i absolutely hate going to meetings...especially if you're averaging 3-5 a week. and yes, i am at that point. monday, 1; tuesday, 2; wednesday, 3 & 4. yuck. but it brings me to what i wanted to discuss and that involved today's last meeting.

i had a meeting with the consumer awareness and education coordinator of our local budweiser distributing company. and no, they don't give out any free samples...but anyway as part of the grant that i administer, we are to hold merchant education sessions that bring about an awareness of underage drinking with alcohol serving/selling establishments in our community. so i thought why not collaborate with the source of the problem? the alcohol distributers...it makes perfect sense to me. they were more than happy to help me out and even offered to pay for any townhall meetings that i wanted to have on underage drinking. great!

well my supervisor's boss doesn't think it's a great idea that we collaborate with budweiser because she thinks it's condoning the behavior. well hello lady! it's not a crime to drink! it's not even illegal to purchase alcohol. there are limitations to it being social and it becoming a problem. and besides my focus is the kids...

i don't understand.

so when i'm not busy at work, i've been thinking about my birthday which is fast approaching! almost a month away...well my bestest friend patrick's birthday is the day before mine and we have this crazy idea to have a theme birthday party! the 80's! i have the most perfect outfit and just bought the right shoes for the occassion this weekend. we want it to be big but of course neither of us have the necessary means to pay for a shindig of the grandest proportion. so we are looking to have a big house party with lots of drinky drinks and people with big 80's hair, miami vice suits, madonna lace inspired outfits, and crimped hair! aaaahhhh.....it's gonna be great! ideas? wanna come?

well aside from the party planning, i do work and today my boss came back from a long vacation. it was so nice without him here...why do we have to have bosses? when we do most of the leg work for them, making them look good. bastards. i think it's time for me to move on...because short of my boss falling off the face of the earth, i can't proceed up the ladder of success...at least here that's for sure. ideas? anyone hiring? hard worker, dedicated, fast learner, independent and excellent communication skills...

oh well, at least i have something to look forward to...a paycheck and a birthday party!!!
